Flame retardant finishing process of polyester Flame Retardant Fabric

The intumescent flame retardant of polyester flame retardant fabrics uses phosphorus and nitrogen as the main elements. When heated, a uniform carbon foam layer can be formed on the surface, which is thermal insulation, oxygen barrier, smoke suppression, and can avoid the phenomenon of melt dripping. Flame retardant properties. Studies have shown that polyester fibers treated with intumescent flame retardants have good flame retardant and anti-dropping effects. Although intumescent flame retardants have been extensively studied in plastics, rubber, and synthetic polymers, there is still little flame retardant finishing of polyester.

The flame-retardant polyester fabric is mainly flame-retardant modified by the original silk or surface treatment to achieve the flame-retardant effect. As one of the surface modification methods, fabric flame retardant finishing has the advantages of simple process and low cost. Among them, the phosphorus-containing flame retardant is low in toxicity and high in efficiency, and is widely used in polyester. Phosphorus flame retardants mainly promote the carbonization of polymers and play a flame retardant role in the condensed phase.

The traditional intumescent flame retardant system is composed of acid source, carbon source and gas source. The acid source first releases inorganic acids such as phosphoric acid, pyrophosphoric acid, etc., which have a dehydration effect, and reacts with the polyol to esterify. The entire system melts in this process; the gas source generates non-combustible gas and water vapor, which expands the molten system ; The carbon source is further dehydrated and carbonized under the action of a dehydrating agent to generate organic matter and coke residues, so that the entire system melts and expands to form a foamed carbon layer.

The polyester flame retardant fabric has high fiber strength, excellent heat resistance and chemical stability, and is widely used in home textiles and various interior fabrics, but it is easy to melt and has a large fire hazard. Therefore, it is very important to study the flame retardant technology of polyester textiles and develop flame retardant polyester textiles.

In this test, a phosphorus-containing flame retardant and a nitrogen-containing flame retardant that can produce non-combustible gas are used to form an expansion system. Through an appropriate post-treatment process, a polyester fabric with good flame retardant properties is obtained, and the treated fabric maintains a good feel. The reduction in breaking strength is small.
